ABOUT TIM KELLEY

AT A GLANCE

Nearly 30-year veteran of NECN / NBC10 Boston

Forensic meteorologist
and educator

Cape Cod native and lifelong sky watcher

Lyndon State College graduate
Trusted New England Meteorologist
Widely known simply as TK, Tim Kelley is one of New England’s most trusted and experienced meteorologists. Many viewers — and even their parents and grandparents — grew up watching TK deliver forecasts rooted in clarity, science, and real-world understanding.
Born and raised on Cape Cod, TK developed a fascination with the sky at a young age. By age 10, he was already keeping a weather diary — a practice he continues to this day. Every single day since January 1, 1992, he has recorded detailed weather observations, creating a decades-long personal archive of New England weather history.
After earning his degree from Lyndon State College, TK began his broadcast career in 1987. He went on to spend nearly 30 years at New England Cable News (NECN / NBC10 Boston), where he built The Weather Office from the ground up and became a trusted voice during some of the region’s most significant weather events.
Today, TK is the founder of The TK Weather Experience, where his mission is simple: to simplify weather science without dumbing it down. New England sits at a unique crossroads of ocean, land, and latitude — making it one of the most complex and fascinating weather regions in the world.
Weather is a never-ending puzzle — and TK is still solving it, one day at a time.

Community, Education AND Beyond
TK believes no meteorologist works alone. Weather is a shared experience — a community effort built on observation, storytelling, and curiosity.
Beyond forecasting, he:
-
Provides forensic meteorology services for legal cases
-
Hosts webinars with leaders like Jim Cantore and Dr. Rick Knabb
-
Speaks to groups of all ages on why New England weather is so unique
-
Teaches summer courses at Blue Hill Observatory
-
Serves as a water tester for Friends of Bass River
Whether on TV, online, in a courtroom, or standing in front of a classroom, TK’s goal remains the same: Share the story of the weather — and invite others to share theirs too.
